Govan Armada (2010)

Flotsam was gathered from the Govan Docks, cleaned, and made into small ‘message-in-a-bottle’ boats by local people and invited guests during a series of workshops on Clydebrae Street. The resulting ‘armada’ was over 70 boats strong, released as part of the ‘Atypical Routes’ festival, with information gathered about when and where boats were found was noted via an online map.

An automated light placed on the Govan Graving Docks which flashed messages in Morse Code. Members of the public were invited to ‘text a message to the Beacon’ which translated their messages to Morse, flashed it out, and replied by text. The project included an online web camera.
